"To be Free, One Must be Chained"
The term, "to be free, one must be chained" means to me that to have freedom, there must be rules set in place. In other words, if there are no rules and regulations for a group of people, 'freedom' no longer has meaning because anything and everything is allowed. It would be impossible for our country to live with no government and no laws as it would lead to complete chaos. Rules or laws are set in place by the government essentially to keep the American people safe. The foundations of American government consist of: the Federalist Papers, the Constitution, and the Declaration of Independence. Every law we have in America comes from the Bill of Rights. And though not all Americans agree with every Amendment, 3/4 of the states have to vote on an Amendment in order for it to become a law. As a US citizen, adults 18 and over have the right to vote and have a say in who runs our country. There will never be such a country where everyone gets along in a perfect union. People will always have different opinions and different views and that will never change. We have rules in place as a country to try our hardest to keep everything in order when people do not agree.

Netiquette
Netiquette is simply etiquette on a network or etiquette on the Internet and is made up ten rules that are expected to be followed as users of the Internet. The ten rules consist of: using spell check/checking your grammar, using All Caps only when appropriate, being truthful, being yourself, do not flame (personally insult someone), do not spam or open spam, be conservative when sending and liberal when receiving, not sending emails at night, shop secure sites, and lastly, use discretion when writing because nothing is private on the Internet. Netiquette can be closely related to etiquette in the real world because they are both recommended but not enforced. You will not be arrested for using poor netiquette or etiquette but in doing so, can cause others to not respect you or your opinions.
It is very important for all of us to remember the ten rules of netiquette and to consider using them in our day-to-day writing in order to give and receive the respect we all deserve in our online class. Out of the ten rules that come along with good netiquette, being truthful and using discretion are, to me, the most important two rules. Honesty creates quality which can give us a virtual classroom that we all enjoy coming to everyday. Using discretion is something that we often forget about when putting words, pictures, etc. online. It is very important for all of us to understand that nothing is private on the Internet and what gets put online, will stay there forever. The Internet is, in my opinion, is an amazing, if not the best, invention this world has ever seen. When netiquette is followed correctly, the Internet has an endless list of opportunities.

About Me
Hello my name is Anna. I am 17-years-old and a senior at Walnut Creek Campus. I am pregnant with a baby girl named Amelia who is due to be here on December 31st, 2012. I live with my mom and dad and my two younger sisters, Natalie and Adrienne. After I graduate high school, I am planning on getting an AA in liberal arts at DMACC then transferring to either Iowa State or Grand View to get a bachelors degree; probably something in technology. The purpose of this blog is for me to reflect on the topics I have learned in Government and to share them with all of you.
